What is Free Radical and its Activity

Monitor your need for Antioxidants

Free radical activity takes place during the process of energy production in the cells of the body. The body also generates free radicals in the process of detoxifying toxins and waste products.

Free radicals are used by the immune system of the body to destroy bacteria and viruses that are harmful. Therefore free radical activity, if properly controlled, is essential to a healthy body. It is only when excessive free radical activity occurs that it becomes harmful and creates a plethora of health issues. Accordingly, excessive free radical activity is often referred to as “oxidative stress”, as explained in how Free Radicals are formed.

Blood is an interesting indicator of health and where free radicals are concerned, their activity impacts blood morphology. Putting it very simply, when free radicals attack cells, damage is done. This can cause inflammation, accelerated aging, and a variety of degenerative conditions including: cardiovascular disease, cancer, cataracts, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, diabetes, lung diseases, autoimmune diseases, liver diseases, kidney diseases, skin conditions, and more. In this regard, free radical activity in the body must be regularly monitored and kept under control.
